The Aston Martin Formula One Team (AMF1) and Motorsport Culture Collective (MCC) hosted an evening of panel discussions on the commercial side of racing at Rice University during November 2024. Since car races are all about engineering, and Rice is at the forefront of this discipline, we are excited to take part in these events. Read More.

The Rice University National Security Research Accelerator (RUNSRA) hosted Dev Shenoy, the principal director for microelectronics at the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) on August 29. Dr. Shenoy’s visit provided an opportunity for the university community to gain insights into the state of microelectronics. Read More.

Rice University inaugurated a new research center dedicated to per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) during a visit to campus August 27-28 by representatives of the United States Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC). The ERDC delegation, led by agency director, David Pittman, was welcomed by Rice President Reginald DesRoches, who said the new Rice PFAS alternatives and remediation center (R-PARC) "builds on multiyear, multimillion-dollar collaborative efforts with ERDC." Rice hosted representatives from Tuskegee University March 27-28, 2024 to discuss opportunities regarding academic and research collaborations. During Fall 2023 a group from the Army Research Lab (ARL) visited the Rice campus. They met with DRA faculty, Rice Administration, and toured the Ralph S. O'Connor Building for Engineering Science, the RUNSRA Diamond Lab, the Baker Institute for Public Policy, the BioScience Research Collaborative and the Ion District. The following Rice research groups participated in a poster session for the ARL visit: Ajayan Lab, Biswal Lab, Brake Lab, Hulet Lab, Knightly Lab, Marti Lab, O'Malley Lab, Pagano Lab, Sabharwal Lab, Schaefer Lab, Segarra Lab, Tour Lab, Wong Lab, Xiao Lab.

Also during Fall 2023, Brett Seidle, Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Research, Development, Test and Engineering, visited the Rice campus. Dr. Seidle met with the Naval Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (NROTC), DRA faculty, Rice Administration, and toured the Oshman Engineering Design Kitchen and RUNSRA Diamond Lab.
